Watery Eye and/or Tear Duct Surgery

Tear Duct Surgery, Watery Eye and/or Tear Duct Surgery

Are you experiencing constant watery eyes? Do you have over productive tear ducts that cause your eyes to water uncontrollably throughout the day? Are you uncomfortable or have vision problems caused  by your eyes producing too many tears? Having watery eyes can make it difficult to see, and even hinder your ability to wear makeup. There are three major reasons why excessive tearing can occur including:

  • The eye produces too many tears
  • The tear duct drainage system does not drain enough tears
  • The eyelids do not “fit” across the eyeball normally

Here at Luxe Aesthetics it is our goal to help each one of our patients not only look their best, but feel their best and healthiest as well. That is why, we offer specialized treatments for watery eyes, or over productive tear ducts.

What to Expect

Through an initial consultation with one of our experienced specialists, a detailed examination is performed in order to determine the underlying cause of your watery eyes. In some cases, treatment can be as simple as eye drops. However, in other cases surgery is required on the tear system to regulate the moisture within your eyes. During your consultation, our doctors can work with you to decide which treatment or procedure best fits your specific case.

Why Surgery?

Surgery is commonly used to correct blocked tear ducts, and create an open passageway for tears to drain out of your nose properly once again. There are two methods for this form of surgery including external, which involves tiny incisions on the inside of your nose. Or, another treatment option called endoscopi, or endonasal surgery. This method involves the surgeon using a microscopic camera along with tiny instruments that are gently inserted into the nasal opening, and to your duct system. This method of surgery does not require incisions.

One of our doctors can help to determine which treatment method is best for you and your specific needs.

Who is a Candidate?

If you are someone who is experiencing constant tearing and discharge from the eyes, you could benefit from tear duct surgery. If you have a history of trauma to the nose, or nasal surgery, you could also qualify as a candidate.
