History of the Practice
Dr. Zaldívar opened the doors of this practice in 2011. Since that time, Dr. Zaldívar has provided compassionate, quality care—as a result, the practice has grown tremendously. He has since brought on Dr. White and Becky Brasher Moore, each of which was meticulously chosen to ensure they shared the patient-centered values and vision of the practice.
Dr. Renzo A. Zaldívar
Dr. Renzo A. Zaldívar trained in ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic, completed a year of ophthalmic pathology at Emory University in Atlanta, and two additional years of Oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic and University of Minnesota. His unique training has granted him recognition and membership into the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS; www.asoprs.org). This society, founded in 1969, was established to recognize surgeons who have training and experience in this unique field. There are fewer than 600 national and international members. In addition to rigorous training, membership into the society requires the presentation and acceptance of a formal thesis, plus successful passage of both written and oral examinations. Dr. Zaldívar has authored over 20 publications including book chapters and journal articles. He is frequently asked to lecture locally and nationally. Since 2009, Consumers’ Research Council of America has listed him in America’s Top Ophthalmologist. Well respected by his peers and colleagues, Renzo has mastered the art of patient care. Dr. Zaldívar spends his time in carefully crafting an individualized and customized treatment plan for his patients.
Recently, Dr. Zaldívar was given the honor to join the University of North Carolina’s Department of Ophthalmology as a clinical assistant professor. As part of his commitment to serve North Carolina’s patient population, Dr. Zaldívar has devoted his time to care for our nation’s veterans, and travels to the Fayetteville Veteran’s Hospital to serve our nation’s heroes.
When not practicing Oculofacial surgery, Dr. Zaldívar enjoys traveling, sports, golf, and spending time with his wife and two children.
Becky Brasher Moore
Becky Brasher Moore, PA-C, MSM, was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi in Oxford. She then decided to pursue a career as a Physician Assistant, where she trained at Mississippi College for two and half years, and is now a Board Certified Physician Assistant licensed by the North Carolina Medical Board. As part of her PA training, she finished her Clerkship at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Department of Ophthalmology, where for six months she expanded her knowledge of comprehensive eye care, working with outstanding eye surgeons. Much of her surgical training at UNC was under the guidance of oculoplastic surgeons, including Dr. Renzo Zaldivar who was an Oculoplastic attending during her stent at UNC. She joined Dr. Zaldivar in private practice in April 2018 to expand oculoplastic eye care for the greater Triangle community. She loves being outdoors, photography, modern art, and trying new foods and restaurants.
